You can’t get more contemporary, topical, or compelling a read especially after everything that has been happening in the world of gun crime these days. Random Shootings is a story of how lives can be irrevocably changed at any time by a shooting, random or not. Whatever your opinion on gun control or your political affiliation there is something in here for you. Even if just for the vivid characters and seat-of-your-pants plot line. I’ll be checking out more by Frank Drury to see if his other works have as much to offer as this one.

A very angsty and unsettling story about how gun violence can affect any life or any family at any time. John Watson is a crime reporter who has experienced such brutality first hand throughout his career. He marries Diana who has also experienced her own share. They adopt children which is where the story becomes even more chilling as it is now on a more personal level with higher jeopardy and stakes. I won’t give any more away but would strongly recommend a read. Not a light-hearted tale that sits comfortably on the best-seller shelf, but altogether more rewarding a read because of this.
